Research

A strong fashion brand identity starts with intelligent, well-informed research. Whether you’re a fashion start-up, growing brand, or established business, in-depth fashion research and trend forecasting are essential to staying relevant and competitive.

My fashion design research services include detailed analysis of current and upcoming fashion trends, carefully aligned with your brand identity, target customer, and commercial goals. This research covers shop reports, trend forecasting using industry-leading platforms such asWGSN, and insights from social media trend analysis on platforms like Pinterest and Instagram.

Using this research, I create clear, inspiring mood boards and concept boards that define the direction of your collection. For fashion suppliers andmanufacturers, I also develop professional trend presentations tailored specifically to your clients, helping you communicate ideas clearly and effectively.

Identity is key

Design

With over 15 years of experience as a freelance fashion designer, I have a proven ability to take a design brief and develop it into clear, commercially focused concepts. I work closely with my clients to ensure every design supports their brand identity, target market, and long-term business goals.

My fashion design services are centred around understanding your unique requirements and translating them into designs that communicate your brand’s core message. From initial concepts and garment design to CAD drawings and production-ready artwork, my work goes beyond aesthetics — it’s about creating designs that help drive sales, strengthen brand positioning, and connect with the right customer demographic.

If you have rough sketches, reference images, or inspiration photos, I can transform them into detailed CAD designs and professional tech packs, ready for manufacturers and factories. This ensures a smooth transition from concept to production, saving time, reducing errors, and improving overall efficiency.

Ready for Production

Tech Packs

Once your designs are finalised, the next step is turning them into production-ready garments. My fashion tech pack services provide factories with clear, accurate technical information, ensuring your designs are correctly interpreted and efficiently produced.

Using computer-aided design (CAD), I create detailed fashion tech packs that include black-and-white and colour CAD drawings, front and back garment views, and precise specifications for garment construction, fabric composition, trims, and Pantone colour references. Every tech pack is created with manufacturers in mind, helping to reduce sampling errors, miscommunication, and production delays.

I also offer full graded size specifications, supplied in Excel format, to support consistent sizing across your collection. While I don’t produce garments or patterns directly, my comprehensive, factory-ready tech packs contain all the information manufacturers need to create patterns, samples, and finished products with confidence.

The Stages

How I Work

Step 1: Discuss your needs

This is a good opportunity to learn more about your brand or who you are supplying to . An Email is sufficient.

-I will need to know or see the identity of your brand to get an idea of your style.

-What season you need designing for.

-Is it men , women’s or children’s? Is it multi product or a specialist product?

-How many garment are in collection?

-Any sketches or Photos to support your ideas(if you have them) or website links to similar brands/garments

Cads are created in both black/white & colour for you to  check for approval before moving onto the next stage .

Step 2: Send you a Invoice

Based on the information you have given me i will calculate how much it will cost to complete your design or collection and a invoice will be sent directly to your email.

Please note full payment is needed to start the project . Unfortunately i don’t accept deposits.

Step 3: start researching

The Research stage is the most important part of the process. This will often involve researching into current & future trends relevant to your brand . It could mean using trend forecasting websites to find out future trends and carrying out shop reports , taking photos or sample buying .

I might then need to research further into a particular trend for your collection either yourself or i have chosen . I would use internet research & if  necessary create moodboards . This is particularly important if you intend to present to a client .

Step 4: Designing

This is where it gets exciting . We are now ready to design! From the research i have just gathered , i can now start to design your collection . All designs are CAD (computer aided design) meaning they are created on a professional design software called adobe illustrator . This is so your designs can be presented as accurate and detailed as possible for factories & clients to understand.

Step 5: Getting ready for production

So now you have seen the designs and  are happy with them,  Lets bring these designs to life!

Before sending your designs off to the factory to be made , each design needs a tech pack & Size Specs . A tech pack is pages of information with your design describing in detail the construction of the garment , fabric , pantone colours & any supportive photos or graphics. Size Specifications/grading is also needed for costing . This will be full graded spec in excel of all of your measurements for each garment.

6: Launch your collection

Once your tech packs are complete, your designs are ready for production. While I don’t create samples or manage production directly, I can refer you to a production agency that handles factory sourcing and communication. Alternatively, if you have already found your preferred factory, you are free to use them.
